Investors and speculators are too different things. Both expect to make money, but the degree of certainty is much different.  Investors, through thorough research intent to make a profit.

Speculators expect to make a profit but without doing the research or by using anothers questionable research. Hot stock tips and buying overpriced real estate because it is going up quickly are both examples of speculation.
