What Is Risk? Print E-mail

Risk is defined differently for every different party. For the long term investor, risk is the probability of long term loss of capital.

Academics define risk as beta which is basically day to day movements in a stock price. This is of little concern to a long term investor as he/she doesn't use leverage and the day to day swings in the stock market will not effect him/her.
